The day started very early, we barely got to sleep at night. At 5 we were already standing and on my way to Alvedro (taxi € 9.37) with the suitcase prepared on DAY 0 OF THE TRIP TO CUBA. We plugged the bags, breakfast (€ 7.15) and in a pee country we were in Madrid. There a long wait served us to pack the bags (€ 10 both), rave, spend money (€ 3 waters, € 5.50 magazines, € 2.30 cookies, € 9.30 sandwiches and olives to take away) rave, talk to the walls, eat (€ 11), rave ... and ... finally! A huge plane was telling us ... CUBAAAAAAAA HERE!
The duration of flight to Havana from Madrid They are not too many hours (just over 9 hours) and it was more bearable than we initially thought (a couple of movies, nap, dinner, sandwich bought at the airport ...) and we were already here. The plane's door opens and… FIRST CARICIA DEL TROPICAL CLIMATE!! And that was 20:30.
Money exchange (at 1.39 CUC for EURO - we change € 450), car vouchers, we bought a map for the route with the car (3 CUC) and bus for Havana stopping at all the hotels of the other partners distributed. Here we had the first contact with those who would become future travel companions: "Tontín" Jordi and "Picapleitos" Diego, the most graceful scammers in all of Cuba, hehehehe (yes, majiiiisma people)
!! Wow! We are the last to leave at the hotel. Well, it was a kind of "circuit" in which we took our first contact with Havana at night from Miramar, Vedado to the Old Zone. !! WHAT AMBIENTAZO !! That unlike anything we know ... this promises ... Of course, Cuba at night is a city sunk in darkness, with hardly any light, although with police in every corner.
Duchita at the hotel, the Mercure Sevilla (ARTICLE IN CHAVETAS WITH ALL THE DETAILS HERE), and first mojito (10 CUC the two mojitos and a water). Here we realize that in CUBA it is 23:00 and not 22:00 as we thought it is and that in Cuba they have already changed the time - in Spain they do it 2 weeks later. The first impact of Havana at night did not convince us of everything, very dark streets, too heavy, but yes, a lot of police and at no time gives you a sense of danger or problems.HOURS IN CUBA:
In Cuba there is a 6 hour less time change compared to Spain. You have to be careful with the schedule changes, since they are not always made the same as the day they occur in our country
With telling you that we already made it the first day and we were harassed by more uncles than aunts. We ended up leaving and leaving a kid and two aunts in a long talk with the police. !! This promises !! LOL. In addition, we ate a kind of "crab" skewer (to say something, both for 2 CUC) fried in black car oil, in front of the Capitol.
Well family, friends and other readers, we are perfectly ... tomorrow begins the true adventure
Juve and Isaac, from Havana (Cuba)
